An introduction to global thought systems from Plato, Aristotle, Confucius, the Bible and Qur’an to Mary Wollstonecraft, Karl Marx, Adam Smith, W.E.B. DuBois, and John Stuart Mill, and Cambridge, Boston, and surrounding communities.
Course catalog: “This course helps students better understand themselves and the world around them, from Hult and their local community, to the region, nation, and global society. It challenges them to reflect on their own talents and aspirations and enables them to develop self-awareness and interpersonal skills that are crucial to success in business and personal life. The course also enhances cultural and interpersonal sensitivity through candid conversations, teamwork, and involvement with the diverse communities that make up the school and its surrounding communities. Finally, the course encourages students to discover how they can make positive contributions to campus and local life and become better informed, more engaged citizens of the world.” Guest speakers, and field trips to local institutions such as the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Institute for Contemporary Art supplement lectures and discussions.
